Today I went to the middle school I used to teach at for the graduation ceremony. Not much has changed. Since I moved to Incheon in 2009, the subway nearest my old house has been under construction/renovation. It is still under construction.
The buses are the same, and I still remember all the numbers and where they all go.
While riding the subway, I happened to meet, completely randomly a woman who works at a jewelry shop I used to frequent every couple weeks for earrings. I love this woman. She always gave me discounts or free earrings (even on days when I just stopped to say hello and didn’t even buy anything). She was so friendly, and I haven’t seen her in probably over 6 months. She still remembered my name.
Then I headed to school. I was late for the Graduation Ceremony, but I managed to catch most of the video, which is the best part. After the ceremony, I took lots of pictures with lots of students. This graduating class is students I taught when they were grade 1, 2 & 3, so it was extra cool. I miss all of them so much, and it was so nice to see them and have them be so warm and happy to see me too! This year, six students got accepted to the foreign language high schools, which is awesome. Last year, our school only had two students. I also saw a bunch of other students, and it was AWESOME.
After the ceremony, I talked to all my old co-teachers for a while, and it was really fun. We all ate lunch, the whole school, all the teachers and staff, together, and it was just so nice. Everyone was really nice to me.
Then, it was time to head home, but first shopping time! I bought a pair of earrings, and one extra earring for an unmatched pair I have at home (from the jewelry store I love). The regular price should have been 8,500 won, but my friend charged me 7,500 and gave me lots of extra earring backs.
I also managed to buy all the rest of the materials I need to prepare Hoon’s Valentine’s Day present. I will post pictures after Valentine’s Day.
And then I bought french fries at McDonalds, and an AWESOME pair of hello kitty socks. And then I went to the subway station. I stopped to get a coke from the convenience store, and the convenience store clerk exclaimed, wow, it’s been so long since you’ve come here! And I asked her, do you remember me? And she said of course, and that I used to come a lot and I was tall and pretty. It was so awesome. People remember me!!
And now I’m at home and it’s really cold outside. I’m gonna make some coffee and get going on some homework.
